Assist in the daily operation of THRIVE After School Program.
Supervision Received And Exercised
The Recreation Leader I receives supervision from the Center Supervisor and Program Coordinator and exercises no supervision over other employees.
Essential Job Functions (include but not limited to):
- Prepare and implement daily lessons plans, which incorporate our philosophy of providing fun, educational and safe activities.
- Work with staff members to coordinate group activities
- Prepare room set up for activity and clean up after activity.
- Keeps accurate attendance records, accident/incident records and time sheets. Reports all accidents/incidents immediately to Supervisor.
- Drive Park District van to transport children (must be 21 years or older)
- Maintain safe and productive environment.
- Responsible to turn off all equipment; i.e., lights, air conditioning, TV, etc., and properly secure classroom.
- Attends staff meetings with staff and attends meetings as required by Supervisor.
- Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Ability to work with the public, parents, children, staff and administration in a positive constructive, courteous manner.
- Versatile and flexible to adapt to changing schedules and situations.
- Skill and/or experience in teaching specialized classes in an after-school environment or similar.
- Experience in working with children.
- Maintain a neat and professional appearance.
- Current CPR & First Aid certifications required.
- Must maintain valid driver license and good driving record (must be 21 years or older)
Licenses, Certificates And Other Requirements
- Maintains current First Aid and CPR certificates.
Working Conditions
Duties are primarily performed in classroom environment. The flow of work and character of duties involve normal mental and visual attention much or all of the time. Manual dexterity and coordination may be required, making up more than 50% of the work period. Hand coordination is required to handle materials and supplies. Position requires frequent walking and the ability to occasionally lift up and carry up to 40 pounds in order to perform setups for activities. May require repetitive foot, arm, shoulder, hand and back movements, crouching, bending, kneeling or reaching when leading activities. Occasional dealing with distraught or difficult individuals.
Experience and Training Guidelines
- Must have at least one year of experience working with children in a group setting
