Project Summary & Public Benefits
In 2003, the District approved a Master Plan for The Bluffs Park, and in 2004, implemented Phase I of the plan, which consisted of installing play equipment and building a gravel trail, providing access from Haskell Court.
Using funds from the 2008 bond measure, THPRD is now implementing Phase II of the Master Plan. Phase II includes connecting South Drive to the play equipment with an asphalt trail, replacing a temporary trail built in 2009, and adding landscaping, signage and stormwater filtering.
Update
The Bluffs Park is now open! THPRD is excited to complete this vital neighborhood link. Contractors will remain on site for several weeks to complete minor elements of the project. Additionally, contractors will return to the site in the spring to install a bench and address a minor drainage issue near the play equipment.
Thank you for your patience during construction.
Previous Update
Based on concerns expressed by park neighbors it was concluded that the following design changes would be made:
• Narrow the asphalt path width from 6 feet to 5 feet, but retain the gravel base of 8 feet.
• Remove the proposed plaza and benches from the south end of the trail at South Drive to address concerns expressed by the adjacent property owners about loss of privacy.
• Use the savings from the removal of the plaza and narrowing of the paved trail to provide additional landscape plantings to screen adjacent property owners from the trail.
