Bauman Park -- natural area restoration, soft-surface trail installation
Project Summary & Public Benefits
THPRD’s Natural Resources Department, in partnership with Clean Water Services, is restoring this seven-acre natural area in the Raleigh Hills neighborhood.
Bauman Woods, which borders Fanno and Vermont Creeks, contains a variety of habitats, including shrublands and forests.
Funds from the 2008 bond allowed for removing invasive weed and tree species from the upland areas and replanting native trees and shrubs.
A soft-surface trail and interpretive signage are planned after the majority of the restoration work is completed.
A graveled trail has been completed through the eastern edge of the park. The trail starts at the end of Old Oleson Road (which dead ends at the northern edge of the park) and meanders through the woods to the southeast corner of the park near Vermont Creek.
