Final phase of skate park construction begins Jan. 8
On January 8, 2018, Tualatin Hills Park and Recreation District will begin renovating the remaining wooden ramps at the Howard M. Terpenning Recreation Complex skate park. The project is scheduled to be completed by February 28th.
The original wood ramps, installed nearly 20 years ago, have been deteriorating due to age, weathering, and regular use. They will be rebuilt using concrete; the current park layout will remain unchanged.
Through public outreach efforts and extensive research, THPRD decided that transitioning to concrete ramps would be the best option for THPRD and skate park users.
Improved safety at the park and a longer overall lifespan for these ramps are the main benefits the district is hoping to realize by transitioning to concrete ramps.
Please expect sections of the skate park to be shut down during construction in order for the renovations to be completed.
