Jones had served on the board since July 1, 2013. He was reelected to a second four-year term effective July 1, 2017 and was in his second year as president.
In accordance with state election laws, the board will invite applications from within THPRD’s service boundaries to fulfill the remainder of the now-vacant term, which ends June 30, 2021. It is anticipated the board will discuss the appointment process at their January meeting.
In addition, the board will elect a new president to serve until the end of the current fiscal year (June 30, 2018). Ali Kavianian, board secretary, will be interim president until then.
Other remaining board members are John Griffiths, Felicita Monteblanco and Holly Thompson.
