A proposal by Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District staff would rename the Tualatin Hills Tennis Center in honor of longtime contributor Babette Horenstein.
Longtime THPRD board member Babette Horenstein is regarded as one of the most influential leaders in the 61-year history of THPRD. Her contributions – including successfully advocating for the bond measure that led to the development of the HMT Recreation Complex – are immeasurable.
To honor the legacy of Horenstein, who passed away in 2013, the district is proposing that the Tualatin Hills Tennis Center be renamed in her honor.
She was a major advocate for THPRD tennis programs for decades and a longtime player herself. Dozens of tennis courts were added during her years on the THPRD Board.
The park district is gathering public input about the idea. A public meeting will be held on July
14 and the comment period will close on July 15. A decision will subsequently be made whether to present it to the THPRD Board of Directors.
The comment period has ended. For more information contact Tualatin Hills Tennis Center.
