Did you know more than a half-million pounds of crayons are discarded annually throughout the U.S. That equates to roughly 60 million crayons. These crayons turn into a waxy sludge that clogs our landfills and never biodegrade.
The Crayon Inititiatve seeks to reduce waste by collecting old or unwanted crayons, then melts them down and makes new crayons out of them. These new crayons are then sent to children's hospitals across the U.S.
THPRD would like to do our part to help reduce waste. From March 1-31 bring your old or unwatned crayons to any THPRD center.
