The public is invited to an open house on May 9 from 10 - 11:30 a.m. to celebrate the completion of our bond measure expansion/renovation project.
Th event will include displays and a ribbon cutting ceremony with comments from elected officials. Attendees are welcome to tour the building (with guides or on their own). Light refreshments will be provided.
Opened in 1975, the Elsie Stuhr Center provides a wide variety of recreational activities and support to individuals 55 “and better.”
Highlights of the improvement project include:
- The fitness room was relocated and more than doubled in size, from 1,138 to 2,436 square feet, and new equipment was installed.
- The former fitness room area was remodeled into two classrooms/multi-use spaces.
- The former lobby was demolished and a new, larger one was created with an entry vestibule.
- The main restrooms were remodeled to meet ADA and other requirements.
The $1.5 million project was funded by THPRD’s 2008 voter-approved bond measure.
