SPECIAL INTEREST PROGRAMS
New - Aquabox
A shallow water aerobic class that involves kicking and punching that mimick kick boxing techniques. It includes a warm-up, stretch, aerobic activity, full body conditioning, stretching, and strength activities.
Back & Arthritis Exercise
A very low-key stretching class designed for those who have back problems, arthritis, are recovering from surgery or just trying to relieve aches and pains by stretching.
Disabled & Physically Limited Swimming
This is an instruction program for all ages and abilities. Staff and volunteers work with participants on a 1-on-1 basis. ADA water entry lift available.
Diving Instruction
Prerequisite: 25 yards front crawl and 25 yards backstroke. All ages welcome.
Levels 1 and 2: This beginning class is designed to teach basic diving postures and positions and elementary jumps & dives.
Levels 3 and 4: Intermediate class for continuing divers. Skills taught include forward approach, additional back and front dives and beginning somersaults.
Junior Lifeguard Program
Participants must be 12-15 years old: They will be introduced to self-rescue, elementary assists, lifeguard skills, elementary instructional skills and may assist in lifeguarding and instruction.
Lifeguard Training
This course focuses on the job of a lifeguard in a swimming pool environment. The class will emphasize victim recognition, surveillance, equipment-based rescues and include First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer.
Minimum age requirement of 15 years.
Prerequisites required (level H+):
- 300-yard swim (utilizing crawl stroke and breaststroke).
- Swim 20 yards and submerge to a depth of 7-10 feet, retrieving a 10-pound brick. When returning with the brick to the starting point, the candidate's face must remain above the water. In addition, candidate must hold the brick in both hands for the entire distance after retrieval.
Certification requirements:
- Attend all class hours.
- Successfully complete all required skill testing in CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, First Aid and Lifeguarding.
- Score at least 80 percent on written exam.
Merit Badge and Skill Award
Aquanaut, First and Second-Class Swimmer and Swimming Merit Badge sign-off available.

Special Olympics

Summer Splash (Fall, Winter and Spring too!)
A recreational swim team for children ages 5-17 years (level G+).
Synchronized Swimming
Synchronized swimming is the execution of precision movements above and beneath the water to music. Must have at least Level G swimming ability.
Water Polo
A game played in a swimming pool by two teams of swimmers who try to throw an inflated ball into the opponent's goal. Must be at least a Level G swimmer.
