Specialty Camps
Specialty Camps for Summer 2010
Cedar Hills Recreation Center has developed a variety of truely unique specialty camps with a particular interest and focus. Designed to stimulate specialized skills, these fun and educational camps are for youth ages 7-13 year olds.
Eco-Fashion Camp - CH15210
Develop creativity and resourcefulness through apparel and accessory design, and to be exposed to arts and fashion.
Highlights: Clothing re-design and outfit construction, screen printing, stencil design, logo creation and coloring fabric. Eco-awareness is critical as participants will reuse what they already own.
“Settlin-Days” - Homestead Camp - CH15208 / CH15209
Campers can experience what life was life for early settlers. Held at the historic Fanno Farmhouse, we’ll travel back in time – full of activity and excitement.
Highlights: Cooking pioneer food, parlor and outdoor games, embroidery, paper dolls and more. Campers will also learn the history of local families and clothing.
CSI Camp - CH15200
Designed for the detective and police officer in young campers. Learn about the many aspects of today’s investigations with hands-on activities.
Highlights: Scene observation, interpretation and collection of evidence, finger printing and teeth impressions, DNA extraction, handwriting analysis and decoding.
Cultural Martial Arts Camp - CH12271
Get a glimpse into new and different cultures – China, India, Okinawa and Japan.
Highlights: Karate and Yoga, arts and crafts projects, storytelling and drama, games and activities.
Bilingual Musical Theatre Camp - CH15218
Designed for kids to have fun either learning or practicing Spanish, or improving your English. A unique cultural experience with a performance on stage to conclude the week!
Highlights: Scenes, songs and dances (in both languages), improvisation games and prop designing.
Sports Performance Camps - CH12272, CH12273, CH12274, CH12275, CH12276
Want to improve your performance in sports? Want to learn a new sport? Experience soccer, volleyball, softball, flag football, tennis and more. Activities suit both the established and aspiring athlete.
Highlights: Muscle strength, endurance, agility, cardiovascular performance, activities and drills.
Razzle Dazzle Visits Wonderland – Art Camp - CH14215 / CH14216
Take an “imaginary journey” with Ms. Turquoize into a creative experience. Enjoy the fun and be delightfully surprised.
Highlights: Painting, drawing, storytelling, movement and music.
Dance Camps - CH11111 / CH11112 & CH11212 / CH11213
Spend the week learning a variety of dance styles and choreographed numbers. Develop fundaments and increase terminology. A dance show will be held at the end of the week to highlight what you learned.
Highlights: Composition, tricks, technique, ballet, modern, old school hip hop and all-camp collaborative project.
