 The Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District owns and operates six indoor swim centers, two summer-only outdoor swim centers, three recreation centers, and the Elsie Stuhr Center for seniors. THPRD also manages the Tualatin Hills Nature Park and Interpretive Center, Camp Rivendale, and three historic sites: the Jenkins Estate, Fanno Farmhouse, and the John Quincy Adams Young House, the latter of which is under development.The 90-acre Howard M. Terpenning (HMT) Recreation Complex at 158th & Walker Road offers tennis and aquatic centers, a skate park, and an athletic center with multipurpose courts for basketball, volleyball, badminton and table tennis. Above the courts is an indoor running track. The HMT complex also has multipurpose fields for softball, baseball, soccer, lacrosse and football. The THPRD/PCC Rock Creek Recreation Facility, the largest construction project for THPRD in the last 10 years, opened in the fall of 2007. Located at 17705 NW Springville Road, the 32-acre multipurpose facility represents a major partnership with Portland Community College's Rock Creek Campus. It provides a much-needed addition of sports fields and other recreational opportunities in a fast-growing area of Washington County. The facility includes two synthetic turf fields for soccer, lacrosse and practice football; four sand-based baseball/softball fields; two natural turf practice fields; and six tennis courts. Other amenities include a walking/jogging trail, children's play equipment, and picnicking areas. |
