Adopt-A-Park

The Adopt-A-Park program offers district residents and neighborhood groups the opportunity to provide tender loving care for the park of their choice. Groups can remove invasive plants and replant with native vegetation, clean up litter and vandalism, lead wildlife watching walks, or do any number of other activities in THPRD parks. This program is especially suited to groups wanting a project that creates a sense of stewardship and ownership within their community and team spirit within their group. Individuals can also adopt a park (or a portion of a park as an Adopt-A-Plot volunteer!) and do similar projects on their own.
Current Adopt-A-Park groups include:
Elmonica Elementary School, Steele Park (trail building, restoration)
Boy Scout Pack #769, Ben Graf Meadows Park (restoration, education)
Tualatin River Watershed Council, Moonshadow Park (restoration)
Do you have a special place in your heart for the birds in your neighborhood park? You can lead interpretive walks!
Is there a pesky blackberry patch that you want to conquer? We'll provide the tools for you to dig 'em out!
Would you like to take care of that favorite walking path? We have the wood chips, wheelbarrows, and shovels!
The opportunities are endless...all you need to provide is the enthusiasm. Give us a call or an e-mail and we'll work with you and/or your group to set up your very own Adopt-A-Park program. Contact Melissa Marcum at 503/629-6305 x2953 or mmarcum@thprd.org.
