Natural Resources staff and volunteers from Fans of Fanno Creek have been restoring the riparian area along Fanno Creek at Bauman Park since 2002. Non-native plants, including Himalayan blackberries, English ivy, and garlic mustard, have been removed throughout the majority of the northern half of the park. Restoration efforts are slated to continue southward to the confluence of Fanno and Vermont Creeks in the coming years.
In addition, a small mitigation project along Vermont Creek near the southern park boundary involved removal of invasive species and installation of wetland shrubs and trees. This project enhanced a section of riparian area along this small tributary of Fanno Creek.
