The Natural Resources Department has teamed up with Clean Water Services to improve water quality and enhance fish and wildlife habitat along almost a mile of Rock Creek near Bethany Lake. The project will be ongoing through 2008. The project has three major parts which have been completed:
- Removal of acres of Himalayan blackberries and replanting the area with native shrubs and trees.
- Placement and securing of logs in sections of the creek for habitat and to prevent erosion.
- Minor grading to connect the creek to the flood plain in areas where it will not impact homes or recreation.
We are presently maintaining and monitoring the project.
