Facilities - Natural Resources - Stewardship - Rock Creek Enhancements

The Natural Resources Department has teamed up with Clean Water Services to improve water quality and enhance fish and wildlife habitat along almost a mile of Rock Creek near Bethany Lake. The project will be ongoing through 2008. The project has three major parts which have been completed:

Removal of acres of Himalayan blackberries and replanting the area with native shrubs and trees.
Placement and securing of logs in sections of the creek for habitat and to prevent erosion.
Minor grading to connect the creek to the flood plain in areas where it will not impact homes or recreation.

We are presently maintaining and monitoring the project.
