Garden Home offers a comprehensive and progressive gymnastics program for kids of all abilities, ages 18 months-13 years. The program is designed to develop sound gymnastic fundamentals with emphasis on strength, flexibility, coordination and self confidence.
All students will receive individual and group instruction on the floor, beam, vault and bars. Great care is taken to provide expert instruction in an atmosphere that is fun, positive and safe.
Parents and spectators are invited to attend the last class of each term, except for Winter term when we have our Gymnastics Performance at the end of the term. For safety reasons, spectators and parents are not allowed to view at any other time without instructor approval.
Additionally for your child's safety, students who are more than 10-15 minutes late - and miss mandatory warmups - will forfeit participation in that class. This is strictly enforced.
Dress code: Girls; leotard and athletic shorts/pants, Boys; shirts and shorts/athletic pants.
Always start your child in the lowest age-appropriate class, then move up as recommended by the instructor. Progress varies widely for each student and most gymnasts repeat each level 2-3 times before moving up. We do tumbling activities, mini-tramps, rope, beam, bars and other games and activities related to gymnastics.
Our physical goals include improvement in the following: muscular strength, balance, endurance, flexibility, gross and fine motor control.
Our behavioral goals include 1) building confidence and self-worth, 2) cooperation, taking turns and sharing with others, 3) listening and following directions, and 4) positive, caring and respectful interaction with peers.
Come have fun with your child! Class helps to develop muscle skills, body awareness and coordination through tumbling, climbing exercises, balance and jumping. Parent participation required. Only one parent/one child.
Pre-Gymnastics, 3-4 years, and 4-6 years
An introduction to gymnastics activities. No experience necessary. We recommend taking the Kid Fit class prior to taking Pre-Gymnastics for 3 year olds.
Pre-Gymnastics, 2½-4 years, Parent Participation
An introduction to gymnastics activities. No experience necessary. We recommend taking the Kid Fit class prior to taking Pre-Gymnastics. Parent participation is required for this class.
Level 1, 4-13 years
In this introductory class we emphasize the strength and flexibility skills needed for gymnastics. The main skills introduced and required to move to level 1.5 are forward and backward rolls, handstands, cartwheels and bridge. Introductory bar and beam work are also emphasized.
Level 1.5, 6-13 years
This class will build on the basic skills introduced in level 1. This is not an entry level class and each participant should be able to do a cartwheel, handstand, backward roll, pullover on the bars and be comfortable walking on the beam. To move to level 2 they will need to be able to perform a bridge kickover, handstand, pullover, back hip circle on bars, be able to do straight jumps and walks forwards, sideways and backwards in releve on the beam.
Level 2, 6-13 years
Participants must be able to consistently perform bridge kickover, cartwheel, backward roll to pike stand, pullover, back hip circle, and forward rolls on the beam. The focus will be back walkovers, more advanced leaps and jumps, cartwheel variations, balance beam and uneven bars.
Level 3, 6-13 years
Participants must be able to perform a back walkover, pullover, back hip circle on the bars and handstand on the low beam. Tumbling is more advanced with a focus on round offs and back handsprings.
