Nature Days in the Parks

The Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District invites you to join us for an afternoon of exploration in and around your neighborhood park. Learn how we are all connected to the nature around us and how THPRD is partnering with the community to preserve and enhance local natural areas. Education staff and volunteers will be leading interactive activities and Park Rangers will be available to answer your questions.

BE GREEN: Walk or bike to an event near you. Similar activities will be offered at each location.

Commonwealth Lake Park

11:00 AM to 3:00 PM
Saturday, March 17, 2012

How are the recent habitat enhancements around the lake and the upcoming restoration work at the adjoining Foothills Park going to benefit the wildlife that live in or visit the park? Stop by to find out and also to share your own stories of wildlife sightings. We can't wait to hear them!

Directions: Activities will be centralized near the playground and soccer field in the west end of the park. The nearest neighborhood entrance is on SW Foothill Dr. To reach the entrance from SW Walker Rd, turn north onto SW Devonshire Rd and after it curves to the right, turn left onto Foothill. The park entrance is two blocks down on the left.

Greenway Park

11:00 AM to 3:00 PM
Sunday, April 8, 2012

This multipurpose park is a corridor for walkers, bicyclists, and wildlife alike. We want to help you discover the diversity of this park and what THPRD is doing to continually improve and protect the various habitats that you see from the trails.

Directions: You can enter from the park entrance at SW Greenway Blvd. and SW Parkview Loop, one-half mile south of SW Hall Blvd. Follow the directional signage from any park entrance to activities, which will be centralized in the middle of the park, near the tractor playground.

Hazeldale Park (previously included Rosa Park)

11:00 AM to 3:00 PM
Saturday, May 19, 2012

A park that includes trails, natural areas, tennis courts, playgrounds, soccer fields, and an off-leash dog area? Sounds like a perfect neighborhood park! And it's only going to be getting better with the upcoming Bond-funded restoration work that is going to create improved wildlife habitat along the creek. Stop by to find out more details and how neighbors can get involved.

Directions: Several entrances into this park exist. Enter from SW Rosa Rd on the north end of the park or cross the soccer field to the natural area from SW Prospect St. Both of these roads are easily accessed from turning north onto SW 192nd Ave from SW Farmington Rd.
