Nature Education Volunteers

We hope you will join the Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District as we work to protect and restore natural areas in our community. Below is a list of environmental education events where we need volunteer help.

If you have questions about an event, please contact Melissa Marcum, Natural Resources volunteer coordinator, at 503/629-6305 Ext. 2720 or e-mail at mmarcum@thprd.org. New events will be added periodically, so please check back for updated information.

Important Notice

For each of the events listed below, we ask that volunteers bring reusable water bottles to drink from throughout the day. We hope that volunteers will take this simple step to assist us in our efforts to reduce waste at the end of our events and at the end of the day.

Volunteers should also wear weather appropriate clothing, as you may be both indoors and outdoors during our events.

Volunteers Needed for Bug Fest!

Volunteers are needed to help with all aspects of Bug Fest at the Tualatin Hills Nature Park Interpretive Center. Jobs may include event set up, welcoming customers, distribution of information and facilitating crafts. Please bring a re-usable water bottle to drink from throughout the day. Lunch will be provided! Multiple shifts are available and may be selected during the registration process. These shifts include: Shift 1 from 9 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Shift 2 from 12:30 - 5 p.m. All Day Shift from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Address: Volunteers will meet inside the Nature Park Interpretive Center, located at 15655 SW Millikan Way (97006).

This is the perfect activity for two people to do together! The surveys include tallies of numbers and types of users that pass a fixed point during the 2-hour period. We will provide you with the supplies a brief powerpoint training on exactly how to perform the survey. Staff will arrange a supply exchange during the week before the scheduled survey.
