Park Improvement Volunteers

We hope you will join the Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District as we work to protect and restore the natural areas in our community. Below is a list of park improvement events where we need volunteer help. New events will be added periodically, so check back for updated information.

Important Notice

PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED FOR ALL EVENTS LISTED BELOW.

We ask that volunteers bring reusable water bottles to drink from throughout the day and hope that volunteers will take this simple step to assist us in our efforts to reduce waste produced by our projects.

Those who register for any of these projects should wear long pants, old tennis shoes or hiking boots and weather appropriate clothing. Feel free to bring heavy-duty work gloves, loppers and a shovel, however tools and gloves will be provided.

Restore the Natural Areas of Tualatin Hills Nature Park

Restore South Johnson Creek in Summercrest Park

Restore the Natural Areas along the Rock Creek Greenway at Allenbach Acres Park

Pollinators play a very important role in the natural world, so help us improve a habitat tailored for them. This project will focus on planting to enhance their habitat along the Rock Creek Greenway! If possible, please bring a shovel, gardening gloves and a re-usable water bottle to drink from throughout the event. Extra tools, gloves, snacks and and a water cooler will be provided!

Address: Allenbach Acres Park is the portion of the Rock Creek Greenway located between NW 185th Avenue and West Union Road. Volunteers will meet on NW Kahneeta Drive, just south of West Union Road. Please park along Kahneeta Drive. 97229 Map

Come out to plant native trees and shrubs and improve the riparian corridor of the stem of Cedar Mill Creek that runs through Foothills Park. Address: From Hwy 217, take the exit for SW Scholls Ferry Road. Head west/southwest on Scholls Ferry Rd. Take a right onto SW Conestoga Dr. Take a right onto SW Robbins Drive and another right onto Settler Way. Volunteers will meet at the trailhead located on Settler Way, between Robbins Drive and Wilkens Lane. Please park along neighborhood streets. Join New Seasons as they partner with Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District to restore the natural areas of Barrows Park! Upcoming projects will focus on removing some small patches of vinca, Himalayan blackberry and non-native trees. If possible, please bring a shovel, set of loppers, heavy duty work gloves and a re-usable water bottle to drink from throughout the event. Extra tools, gloves and a water cooler will be provided. New Seasons will provide refreshments before the start of the project, between 8:30 - 9 a.m.
