THPRD sets public meeting Aug. 27 to discuss Aloha park development
August 19, 2014
The Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District has scheduled a neighborhood meeting next week to discuss the development of a 20-acre community park in Aloha.
The meeting is set for Wednesday, Aug. 27, at 6 pm in the gymnasium of Mountain View Middle School (17500 SW Farmington Road, Beaverton).
Agenda
Overhead view of proposed park site
Staff from THPRD's Planning & Development Department will provide an overview of the project, which will create the long-awaited park adjacent to Mountain View.
They will also present design options and ask for feedback from the audience. Attendees will have plenty of opportunities to make comments and ask questions. THPRD will provide translation services as needed for Spanish speakers.
One of the project's key features will be a multipurpose athletic field complex offering side-by-side synthetic turf fields with lights, an adjoining field made of natural grass, and an overlapping baseball diamond with 90-foot basepaths. Through a partnership with the Beaverton School District, THPRD and BSD will share use of the facilities.
Other amenities of the new park will include play equipment, a perimeter trail, and picnic facilities. A parking lot, restrooms and other improvements are also part of the design.
If private funding can be secured, a separate, smaller synthetic turf field will become Oregon’s first “Champions Too” sports facility for special needs athletes.
THPRD and Tualatin Hills Park Foundation committed to "Access for All"
The multipurpose field would be available for others in the community when not in use by special needs athletes.
