THPRD's upcoming fall events are a scream for kids, families
September 29, 2014
THPRD’s busy fall events schedule means kids won’t have to wait until Halloween to show off those incredible costumes.
There are many ways to enjoy the spirit of the season at THPRD’s recreation and aquatic centers throughout October.
The annual Fall Festival at Cedar Hills Recreation Center is back on Saturday, Oct. 18, from 11 am to 4 pm. It includes crafts, games, pumpkin painting, cookie decorating and other activities for ghost, ghouls and goblins of all ages.
An $8 bracelet gives kids free reign to enjoy all of the upstairs activities, including carnival games, “The Salon,” fishing, face painting, bounce house, donut walk, and “Pirate’s Cove.”
Two new events debut this year: a baking contest and an archery tournament; pre-registration is required for both. Feeling lucky? A raffle ($1) and bingo (25 cents per card) are also available. All ages are welcome.
The Pumpkin Bob at Harman Swim Center is also Oct. 18, 4-7 pm. Visit the “floating pumpkin patch.” The $9 admission includes games, contests, prizes, a photo station and treats. Children 7 years and younger be accompanied in the water. “Hotel Transylvania,” a dive-in movie, starts at 5:30 pm.
On Friday, Oct. 24, The Great Garden Home Pumpkin Hunt happens from 6-8 pm at Garden Home Recreation Center. Guests are invited to don costumes and enjoy howling fun, including the flashlight pumpkin hunt. They can bring a flashlight and search for pumpkins and other treats in the great outdoors. Cost: $10 per person.
Finally, the Monster Bash & Splash at Conestoga Recreation & Aquatic Center is also scheduled for Friday night, Oct. 24. Youth ages 10-14 will enjoy dancing, a costume contest and snacks at this movie night and pool party, 6:30-9 pm. Cost: $10 per person.
