THPRD offers adult tennis instruction for all levels. Our level system is similar to the NTRP (National Tennis Rating Program). If you are unsure what your level is, please call the Tennis Center at 503-629-6331 to schedule a free level evaluation.
People who are new to the game or who have not received tennis instruction should enroll in Level 1. Level 1 will cover the fundamentals of all tennis strokes and give you a basic understanding of tennis positioning.
Level 2 will expand on what has been learned in Level 1 and players will work on developing more consistency across all strokes. Topspin and slice for groundstrokes will be introduced, as well as serving with spin. Positioning and basic strategy for singles and doubles will be covered.
Players at this level are ready for USTA or other competitive play. Lessons will focus on refining strokes and developing offensive and defensive abilities. Strategy and tactics for singles and doubles will be covered.
Players at this level have dependable strokes and the ability to control pace, direction, and depth of shot. Lessons will generally be fast-paced and consist mostly of point play with instruction regarding tactics and refining stroke production.
Cardio tennis (level 1.5-3)
Join us for this fast-paced class to get the ultimate tennis workout! Our certified instructor will run you through cardio-intensive drills to improve your fitness and your tennis skills. Compression balls may be used.
Stroking Analysis (level 1.5+)
This class will delve into the technical aspects of your strokes. Throughout the session all strokes will be covered and players will receive instruction and the opportunity to practice through repetition. Point play will not be emphasized. The ball machine may be used for this class.
Adult Weekly Hit Groups
Registation for these Hit Groups will be available every Wednesday at 8pm for the next week of classes. For more info on these hit groups please refer to the Activity Guide.
