Cedar Hills Park to close for construction Jan. 8
En español As part of a major construction project that will bring a variety of improvements to Cedar Hills Park, the park will be closed starting Jan. 8, 2018 except for a pedestrian pathway from William Walker Elementary School (Lynnfield Lane) to Cedar Hills Boulevard.
In May 2018, the pedestrian path also will close, and in June 2018, primary construction work will begin, continuing through the summers of 2018 and 2019 before finishing in October 2019. Please note during the closure, fencing will be erected around the park for public safety.
Funded by THPRD’s 2008 voter-approved bond measure, the project will establish a multipurpose synthetic athletic field with lights, splash pad, sport courts, community garden, picnic shelter, permanent restrooms, concession stand and ADA-accessible features. In addition, the project will enable improved access from the park to the new William Walker School that is also scheduled to open in
October 2019.
Once the park closes on Jan. 8, as detailed previously in public meetings and documents during THPRD’s master planning process, a park district contractor will begin removing a number of trees in the park (while leaving the majority alone). This is necessary to create space for new park amenities and will be done with as much care as possible. Fencing will be erected to protect all trees that remain.
We look forward to creating a significantly improved Cedar Hills Park for you and other neighbors. Thank you for your cooperation and patience during the construction activities that are to come. If you have any questions or need more information, please contact Matt Kilmartin, THPRD park planner, at 503-629-6305 or mkilmart@thprd.org.
Thanks.
