The turnaround time for a letter is 1-2 weeks. If it is an emergency, or if it has already been signed, and needs to be reconfirmed and dated, please let us know. - To confirm if you are In or out of district, click here and select "Am I In-District?" (on the left hand navigation bar). You will be prompted to enter your address. Another way to verify if you are in district is to look at your property tax statement. If you are paying an assessment to the Park District, it should be noted in your statement.
- If you are currently out of district and wish to be in, you need to annex into the Park District. Annexation is handled through the Washington County Department of Assessment & Taxation. The Park District is working to complete its fifth open enrollment for the Voluntary Annexation Program which is to be finalized in March 2010. Residents who chose to voluntarily annex will receive a notification letter once they are considered in-district. The new Park District assessment will appear on their property tax bill in the November 2010 billing cycle.
If you currently reside within Hillsboro or Tigard, you are not eligible to annex into the Park District. Your parks and recreation services should be provided by the City of Hillsboro or City of Tigard.
New housing developments within our ultimate service boundary will be annexed to the Park District per Washington County Ordinance 624. Check with Washington County Department of Assessment and Taxation (503/846-8741) to find out if your proposed residence/subdivision will be in-district. - The Park District is working to complete its sixth Voluntary Annexation Program. Staff have not yet determined whether a VAP will be offered in 2011. Please check back for more information in July 2011.
- The Taxlot Identification Number (also called the Map & Tax Number) is very helpful in a number of situations. It helps the Planning & Development staff identify exactly which parcel you are referring to when you call to ask questions. The Taxlot ID is also called the Tax Map and Lot number. It will usually look like this: 1S105BA00100 (or it may also start with 1N1). This number can be found on your property tax statement, or you may go to the Washington County Intermap Web site and search by address.
- If a tree or branch has fallen or is threatening to fall from Park District property onto your private property, please call Maintenance Operations at (503) 629-6360.
If you notice a problem with a tree or natural feature in one of our parks (example: something is backing up the flow of a creek) please call Natural Resources at (503) 629-6305. - If you are interested in volunteering for the Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District, there are several ways to go about it:
- To volunteer for a Natural Resources Department project, click here for a list and for contact information.
- For non-Natural Resource volunteering, please call Debra Fife at (503) 645-6433.
- If you would like to volunteer for an advisory committee, please call the facility to find out if there is an opening on the advisory committees for Aquatics, Athletic Center, Cedar Hills, Conestoga, Garden Home, Jenkins Estate, Nature Park, or the Stuhr Center.
- If you are interested in joining the Trails Advisory Committee, please contact, Planning & Development office tech, at (503) 629-6305, extension 2910. If you would like to participate on the committee but there are no openings, please feel free to come to any of our monthly meetings; they are always open to the public. Minutes and agendas are posted on the Internet. The Trails Advisory Committee meets on the third Tuesday of every month. Locations may vary.
Trails
- We frequently receive calls from patrons wishing to know the length of certain trails. It is sometimes difficult to determine exact lengths as we frequently expand our trails system or repair older trails. Here are the numbers as we currently declare them: (All distances are approximate)
- Westside Trail (Beaverton Powerline Trail) -- Total 3.64 miles. This particular trail is currently being expanded.
- Cedar Mill Creek Trail at Commonwealth Lake Park -- 1 mile
- Cedar Mill Creek Trail (Foege Park) -- .5 miles
- Fanno Creek Trail/Greenway Park Section -- 2 miles
- Fanno Creek Trail/ Oregon Electric Railroad Section -- 1.2 miles
- Jenkins Estate -- 6 miles of trails, gravel trails and pathways (some trails not ADA standard)
- Rock Creek Trail -- 1.7 miles divided into two segments, one from Bethany Meadows to West Union (.5 miles) and the other segment from 185th to Rock Creek North Soccer Fields (1.2 miles). A trail section is also constructed at Kaiser Woods Park but is not included in the above measurements.
- Tualatin Hills Nature Park Trails -- 5 miles of trails, various surfaces
- Waterhouse Trail -- .5 miles
- Waterhouse Trail at Willow Creek -- 1 mile
Individual parks may also have wood chip trails or pathways not listed here. For a trail map, please contact the office of Planning and Development. For information on regional trails, please go to the Metro Web site, www.metro-region.org.
- For a map of the Fanno Creek Trail, please contact the office of Planning and Development and ask for Fanno information.
Parks
- Our Maintenance Department controls the rental of our parks. If you are interested in using one of our parks for a private gathering, please go here for rental information. All other parks can be used on a first-come, first-served basis. To ensure that our parks remain safe and enjoyable for all our residents and patrons we ask that you please abide by the Park Regulations while hosting your gathering.
- The only two parks that are off-limits to dogs are the Tualatin Hills Nature Park and the Cooper Mountain Nature Park. Both parks have many sensitive habitat areas, and in the interest of the safety and comfort of the native species, the Park District requests that domestic animals not be brought into the facilities or on the grounds. All other parks are open to dogs on-leash. Hazeldale Park has an off-leash dog area at the south end of the park. Please see our Dogs in Parks Policy to answer any other questions.
- Please see the Park District Map to locate a park near your house. All THPRD facilities also have large Park District maps posted which can be used to easily find a park, facility or tennis court in your neighborhood.
- There are two ways to find out the amenities of a particular park:
- Parks can be searched by amenity using our Find a Park feature.
- Or you can search for park by location using our Park District Map and clicking on the park for which you are seeking information. This will give you a small pop up window with information.
- If you are interested in donating property to the Park District, or want to suggest a property that you think would be particularly well suited to our purposes, please go to the Acquisition Form on the Planning & Development web page and submit the relevant information.
