(Add $453 for each additional family member over 8.)
Example: If three people live in your household, the gross family monthly income must be less than $2,213 for the household to qualify for scholarship aid.
District residents in need may receive up to $200 per person per year in fee waivers. These funds are available in two $100 allotments, six months apart.
If you live within THPRD district boundaries and your household income is below the Federal Free Meal Guidelines you are eligible for this program.
Any applicant with a current Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) award letter or a current Beaverton School District Federal Free Lunch Letter is automatically qualified.
If you do not participate in the above two programs, you may qualify by documenting a monthly gross income that falls below the Federal Free Meal Guidelines (see chart).
You must be entered in the district database and have a valid THPRD identification card.
A household is defined as any number of related individuals living in a single residence (home or apartment), up to six unrelated individuals living in a single residence, or any number of individuals living in a single licensed group home.
Qualification based on a copy of a current award letter for TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) or a copy of a current notification letter from the Beaverton School District Federal Free Meal Program.
Income will be verified. Proof of income can be all of the following that apply for all members of the household: payroll stub (current two months), Social Security/Disability award letter, unemployment weekly wage benefits, child support/alimony agreement or other income. For your own protection, please block out social security numbers on all verification documents.
If you have no income or other special circumstance, please describe your situation on a separate piece of paper and submit it with your application.
Applications are accepted year-round. You may apply once each year; scholarship funds are valid one year from the date of activation.
Applications are available in English and Spanish at every THPRD facility and online.
Unused scholarship funds may not be carried over from one first six-month period to the next. You may use your fee waivers at any time during the six months; all at once, or spread throughout the six months. Once the amount for that six-month period is used, additional fee waivers will not be available until the next six-month period begins. After the second six-month period has expired, you are eligible to re-apply. Funds are not transferable among members of the same household.
Registration for THPRD programs occurs every December (winter classes), March (spring classes), April (summer classes and camps) and August (fall classes). Please budget the use of your scholarship funds accordingly.
3. Registration Information
Scholarship funds are only to be used for general programs and classes at THPRD, plot fees for the THPRD community gardens and affiliated recreational youth sports leagues. Fee waivers cannot be used for facility rentals, birthday parties, third-party programs, competitive youth sports leagues, private lessons, childcare when guardians travel off-site, or the purchase of items (goggles, swim caps, towels) at THPRD centers.
If you plan to use scholarship funds to register your child for an affiliated recreational youth sports league, you will be able to do so as long as there is enough in your account to cover the cost. The parent or legal guardian will need to follow that organization’s enrollment procedures. THPRD does not enroll individuals in affiliated sports programs.
