Expansion of the Elsie Stuhr Center was completed in spring, 2012. THPRD voters, supporters and district officials celebrated at a May 9, 2012 open house and ribbon cutting ceremony. Improvements include:
- the fitness room was relocated and more than doubled in size, from 1,138 to 2,436 square feet, and new equipment was installed. The previous fitness room was remodeled and made into two multi-use spaces.
- the lobby was demolished and made larger with an entry vestibule, and the old reception desk was relocated to the new lobby.
- the main restrooms were remodeled to meet ADA and other requirements.
- outside, the entry drop-off area was realigned to add 10 parking spaces and to make the area safer for patrons and delivery vehicles.
- behind the scenes, a new fire sprinkler and alarm systems were installed.
- part of the 2008 bond included funds for seismic upgrades. At Stuhr, the roof was replaced and structural improvements were made to make the building safer in the event of an earthquake.
