Weddings

Let all thy joys be as the month of May, and all thy days be as a marriage day. -- Francis Quarles

Weddings come in all shapes and sizes. They can be elaborate or simple, classic or modern. But we all want them to be memorable.

The Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District offers two of the most unique and beautiful venues for weddings in the Portland area.

Jenkins Estate and Fanno Farmhouse in Beaverton are gorgeous, historic properties managed by THPRD. Both are uniquely suited for weddings and receptions, large and small, and both are extremely competitively priced compared to similar venues in the region.

Jenkins Estate

Few wedding sites in Oregon can match the lush splendor or variety of settings at Jenkins Estate.

This revitalized 68-acre country estate is located in a wooded niche crowning Cooper Mountain. Its views of the Tualatin Valley provide a truly stunning backdrop. A large and developing rhododendron garden, perennial boarders, wildflower meadows and water features highlight other areas on the grounds.

Jenkins Estate is located at 8005 Grabhorn Road, Beaverton. It offers a large lodge-style home dating from 1912 and an indoor stable, ideally suited for receptions, corporate meetings and other social events.

But it’s the unique wedding venues that truly make the Estate stand apart. If you're looking for an outdoor ceremony that gives you the feeling of a wooded setting, the “Tea House” is the perfect spot. The bride walks over a bridge and scenic pond area to make her grand entrance to her guests. This area’s capacity is up to 150 guests.

If you're looking for an intimate sit-down ceremony area for 100 guests or less, consider Belle's Havenr. This location is surrounded by beautiful flowers and trees, providing the perfect backdrop for the ceremony.

If you need a larger area, then the expansive Meadow is for you. It is surrounded by green trees, blooming bushes and colorful flowers. The capacity is up to 225 guests.

For the reception, you can choose the historic Main House or Stable. The Main House is patterned after a hunting lodge built for the English royal family. It has a full-length veranda porch, beamed ceilings, stone and brick fireplaces, solid maple floors and ornate light fixtures. Guests will enjoy the beautiful views from this building and the outdoor dancing area. Capacity level is up to 175 guests in the summer.

The Stable, a handsomely renovated horse barn, is a two-story building featuring original fir tongue-and-groove boards. Guests are seated in stalls downstairs. Upstairs are a great wood dance floor and stage area. An outdoor patio provides additional guest seating. Capacity is up to 225 guests in the summer.

Jenkins Estate provides its own in-house catering service, but also offers a list of seven contract caterers from which to select.

Call Jenkins Estate, the perfect location for any occasion, at 503/629-6355 to schedule an appointment, receive a pricing list, or to tour this beautiful property. Tours are given Monday through Friday during the day or Thursday evenings. You can also e-mail Gail Dubois at gdubois@thprd.org for more information. >> Read more

Fanno Farmhouse

Would you like to say that you were married in the oldest home in Beaverton? Then Fanno Farmhouse, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is the place for you. Located adjacent to Greenway Park, along Fanno Creek and south of SW Hall Boulevard, the house remains on its original site as it was staked out in 1847.

This outdoor location can seat up to 75 guests in the beautifully landscaped backyard of the home, which is accented with a white, ornate wedding gazebo. The house can also accommodate a small, indoor reception, rehearsal dinner, business meeting or social event. Call 503/629-6355 for more information or to make a reservation. >> Read More

Nature Park Interpretive Center

Located on the edge of the Nature Park's oak woodland, the Interpretive Center offers a large meeting/banquet room (Beaver Den) and two smaller, more intimate rooms (Fireplace Room and Robin's Nest). All three rooms boast vaulted ceilings, natural woodwork, and large windows that look out into the forest. The courtyard can be reserved in conjunction with the rental of the Beaver Den and is a beautiful setting for outdoor weddings. >> Read More
