Nature Camps

THPRD nature camps offer endless opportunities for children to learn about nature, hike, observe wildlife, create crafts, play games and explore the outdoors. We offer camp programs for a variety of age groups including Summer Camps, Day Off Camps and Winter and Spring Break Camps. Camp Wild Things

Who: Ages 4-6
What: A half-day camp in which campers explore the trails, create fun crafts, and get a close look at the animals that call the Tualatin Hills and Cooper Mountain Nature Parks home.
When: Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.-noon or 1-4 p.m. Camps run throughout the summer and over winter and spring break.
Where: Morning and afternoon sessions are offered at the Nature Park Interpretive Center. Morning sessions are available at Cooper Mountain Nature Park.

Mini Nature Camps

Who: Ages 6-9
What: Mini-camps offer half-days filled with fun and adventure. Create arts and crafts, play games, make new friends and explore the many beautiful areas of the Tualatin Hills and Cooper Mountain Nature Parks.
When: Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.-noon or 1-4 p.m. Camps run throughout the summer and over winter and spring break.
Where: Morning and afternoon sessions are offered at the Nature Park Interpretive Center. Afternoon sessions are available at Cooper Mountain Nature Park.

Nature Explorers Camp

Who: Ages 7-10 (geared to students entering grades 2-5)
What: Campers will hike, check out critters, play games and see awesome natural sites while exploring the Tualatin Hills Nature park and on trips ranging from Mount Hood to the Oregon Coast. During the summer, swimming on Fridays rounds out the fun!
When: Monday through Friday from 7:45 a.m.-5:15 p.m. Camps run weekly over spring break and during the entire summer break.
Where: The drop-off and pick-up location for these camps are at the Tualatin Hills Nature Park Interpretive Center. Some days have activites onsite and some days we travel to other locations.

Camp Green

Who: Ages 10-13
What: These full-day camps provide opportunities for tweens to delve into the scientific world in which we live.Campers will do science-based activities and explore how their daily lives are intertwined with their natural surroundings. In addition to taking two field trips a week, campers will explore hidden pockets of nature in local parks and greenspaces.
When: Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. throughout the summer. We also offer early drop-off/late pick-up from the Tualatin Hills Nature Park Interpretive Center.
Where: The drop-off and pick-up location for these camps are at the Cooper Mountain Nature Park, Greenway Park, Jackie Husen Park, Kaiser Woods Natural Area or Raleigh Swim Center/Park, depending on the week. Their is an option available if you would like to drop-off and pick-up at the Tualatin Hills Nature Park.

Eco Adventure Camp

Who: Ages 11-15
What: These trips are geared for youth who have a desire to experience outdoor adventures while learning about nature and environmental sciences. Campers will learn essential camping techniques while spending four days and three nights in an exciting location. In addition to environmental education, all trips incorporate leadership and teambuilding into the week's activities.
When: These four-day adventure trips are scheduled periodically throughout summer.
Where: The drop-off and pick-up location for these camps are at the Tualatin Hills Nature Park Interpretive Center.

Day Off Nature Camps

Who: Ages 7-11 (6 year old can sign up if they are already in 1st grade)
What: During a typical day kids may hike, study wildlife, create crafts, play games or go on a field trip.
When: Over winter break and on most scheduled Beaverton School District holidays and in-service days. Camps run from 7:45 a.m.-5:15 p.m.
Where: The drop-off and pick-up location for these camps are at the Tualatin Hills Nature Park Interpretive Center. Some days have activites onsite and some days we travel to other locations.
