Project Summary & Public Benefits
Paula and Verna Winkleman Park was opened to the public on June 1, 2013. THPRD celebrated the Grand Opening on Aug. 20th. Community members joined the festivities at the park, which holds a large sports field and a much-awaited dog park. Read more about the opening.
Winkelman spans a total of 20 acres. The park now has a multi-use sports field, a backstop, a perimeter pathway and a larger parking lot.
Covering about two acres, the off-leash area for dogs is located on the hilly northeast corner of the park. It is one of only two dog parks in the district.
Plans for Phase Two of the project, which is not yet funded, include a community garden, sheltered picnic seating and play areas, among other community park features.
Paul and Verna Winkelman Park is located at 10139 SW 175th Ave. in Aloha. Daily hours are dawn to dusk.
